A simple fit test can be accomplished each time the CavCom system is used by holding an open radio close to the face and depressing the PTT on the CavCom control unit. If the user does not have their ear set properly inserted there will be an “acoustic feedback” (squeal) heard from the open radio. This is a positive fit test to assure effective hearing protection and clear communication in the highest noise levels.
- This exclusive fit test is easy to conduct and very cost effective as it does not require a probe microphone, consultant, or any additional test equipment to perform. Each ear seal can be tested in a matter of seconds.
- Training employees to properly insert their hearing protection and achieve a good seal is simple and effective. Employers can use the CavCom system for training in use of traditional passive hearing protectors also.
- The fit test can be depended on to determine proper size selection for disposable and reusable tips and the reliability of the hearing protection device.
