Essential factors that affect reliability for Custom-fitted hearing devices:
- Accuracy of the ear mold impression taken
- Modeling of the impression at the laboratory to ensure that the final CHPD is a perfect replica.
CavCom’s digital laboratory process ensures accurate modeling and eliminates errors often experienced with conventional hand-made laboratory products. At the CavCom laboratory, the entire CHPD manufacturing process is a computer based digital procedure, typically found only in major hearing aid manufacturer and dental laboratories.
- EAR IMPRESSIONS are made from biocompatible silicone material that will not shrink or change shape over time. Other impression materials are not acceptable. CavCom will assist customers to select local vendors to take the impressions.
- DIGITAL SCANNING OF THE EAR IMPRESSIONS is state-of-the-art technology to achieve a precise replica of the ear impression that is retained in a permanent digital file. This digital record can be referenced at any time and eliminates the need to remake ear impressions.
- MODELING THE DIGITAL EAR IMPRESSION is accomplished with 3 dimensional CAD software enabling the technician to perfect the impression of imperfections, select proper canal length and build points of contact to achieve a seal to provide optimum hearing protection. If future adjustments need to be made for fit issues, the remake process is immediate and eliminates long delays in returning product to the customer. Placement of electronics or acoustic filters is also accomplished during the modeling process.
- MANUFACTURING CUSTOM PROTECTORS is accomplished with state-of-the-art rapid prototyping stereolithography apparatus (SLA) processing. The finished modeled ear set is formatted into a STL digital file and an exact replica of the model is manufactured to engineering tolerances. The SLA process is utilized by major hearing aid and dental laboratories creating millions of accurate products annually. The SLA process is a superior process compared to hand-made laboratory products.
- EAR SET MATERIAL is smooth, high gloss acrylic which will not shrink, tear, split or crack. The material is identical to the products manufactured by major hearing aid companies producing millions of devices annually. Acrylic products are easy to insert and remove avoiding ear soreness often experienced with soft products.
- EAR IMPRESSION INVENTORY is permanently maintained for each ear impression, modeled ear impression and final SLA product. In the event an ear piece is damaged or lost or requires minor adjustments, a remake ear impression can be easily accomplished and sent to the customer without long delays encountered in manual laboratories.
